About me...
My name is Chris Jordan.... age... 44,
I have spent the last 20 years of my
working life in the rat race, how much money can I make, how much can I
impress the boss and how quick can I get my next promotion. After a small
incident which ended up with a gunshot wound to the head and 14 baseball bat
impact marks I decided that maybe a change of direction was in order.
I have, since I left school, been a tyre
and exhaust fitter, worked in a riding centre, fitted lifts and conveyors,
driven vans, cars and HGV's, worked security, been a Doorman in clubs, a bar
manager, scaffolding erector, double glazing salesman, worked in offices and
on farms.... after getting into computers I have done desktop support,
mobile hardware breakfix, server installations, first line telephone
support, and contract installations for people as varied as Tescos to the
Crown Prosecution service and banks.
1 Marriage and 3 long term relationships
later, leaving a lot of mess and 3 wonderful children who
unfortunately I do not get to see.
Early 2005 I lost the plot completely and decided to give up my cushy, but
unappreciated position of Field engineer for a well known IT company, sell
my house in Manchester and move down to Dorset temporarily until I was ready
to head off on a world trip. During the summer of last year learned to scuba
dive, and that has been my passion ever since. The original idea was I would
then be able to work around the world as a Divemaster. A dive accident in
September put the dampers on that for a while as after spending a few
minutes in a helicopter I was deposited in a decompression chamber for 7 and
a half hours. I lost 2 months of course work as a result and in Nov 2005
decided to head for Lanzarote to do some intensive diving to catch up. EFR,
wreck and rescue diver courses under my belt, it was time to head off.
Trip to New Zealand and Australia
followed. Then 6 months in Lanzarote where I finished part of my instructors and then
worked in a Dive Centre for 6 months. Now back in
the UK trying to get my life back together until I can earn enough to
complete what I started.
